Well, it turns out that there’s a really good reason that it works so well, and is NOT a scam (as I discovered after becoming a subscriber). Most FOREX software looks at technical charts and tries to figure out what the market is going to do next. And since the market is always changing, any product that claims to know what the market is going to do is a scam, at least over the long-term. But OracleTrader doesn’t do that at all – not even close. Instead, OracleTrader looks only at news trades.

For any given news trade, analysts predict the contents of news releases (the numbers data), but they usually get it wrong. When the actual data comes out, the market reacts. But what Dustin Pass discovered about 6 years ago is that it (the markets) react predictably depending on how “wrong” the analysts best guesses were. The bigger the deviation, or error, the more the market has to adjust to compensate. And that happens quickly.

So OracleTrader only looks at the deviation between the actual news release data and the expected data, and if the deviation is big enough, it makes a buy or sell recommendation. Depending on whether or not the numbers are in a “good” direction or “bad” direction, it places a trade for you, automatically, if you want. This is an optional feature. They key is having a minimum deviation ‘threshold’. If the deviation is small, the market might whipsaw, in other words, it might spike, then drop rapidly. And that is dangerous for traders. But if the deviation is fairly big, the market will make a major jump and sustain it for anywhere from 15 seconds to several minutes, which is plenty of time for traders like us to make a small fortune.

Here’s how OracleTrader gets it’s edge: It has multiple expensive data feeds on the back end that get the data as fast as possible, much faster than the average trader get their data from the new channels or free data feeds. So it has a split second or two to do a quick analysis, and make a buy or sell recommendation. Of course since it’s software, it only needs a fraction of a second to analyze and recommend. And you get to tell it how much of a minimum deviation is required before it sets off the buy or sell alarms. All it takes is knowing the market direction 1 seconds before the rest of the world to get in BEFORE the spike to make massive profits! So simple, so deadly accurate – I love it!

So the bottom line is that OracleTrader isn’t a scam. On infrequent occasions a trader can take a loss, but with dozens of news releases coming out every month, the winning trade recommendations outnumber the losers by a huge margin so they haven’t even come close to having a losing month. The one area to be aware of is sometimes brokers don’t take your orders right when news releases come out, but they created a cool tool to make it much more likely to get your order filled, but I am going to write that up in another article because it’s an ingenious solution.

So to wrap it up, though I was skeptical, it turns out OracleTrader is definitely NOT a scam, has a very good track record and reputation, and I give it a strong ‘buy’ recommendation. Be wary of FOREX software – usually it IS a scam, but not in this case. The most common types of government or central bank news releases that have a direct effect on the currency markets include business sentiment surveys,  industrial production, inflation reports (either consumer or producer prices), interest rates decisions, manufacturing sector surveys, retail sales, trade balances and unemployment figures. Secondary information, such as various consumer confidence surveys and the like can also play a useful role, though the effects are usually considerably smaller. Most of the time, news traders use released news information primarily focused on the countries whose currency pairs they are trading. For example, statistical data from the United States frequently plays a major role in the Forex market since almost half of all currency pairs traded involve the U.S. dollar. However, with the world so closely connected and international finance being so inter-related, even news reports stemming from other countries can have a direct bearing on currency values, at least in the short term. For example, growing drug violence in Mexico has affected US dollar values and political instability in Moldova has affected Euro in the past.

Determining precisely what news sources to rely upon and developing a news-based strategy can be considerably trickier than it seems. In general, most news traders try to identify periods of consolidation ahead of a major news release and then try to trade the breakout based on this number. However, this is actually a lot trickier than it seems because it only really works in instances of a major announcement and more often than not the expected number upon which the consolidation is based turns out to be correct.  Further, immediately after the announcement there is frequently a lot of market volatility which may or may not work in your favour.  There are, of course, other ways of trading on news as well, but the breakout strategy is the most common and if you want an alternative you may well have to develop it yourself or trade through unusual options like FX SPOT options.
